Fantastic opportunity for an experienced event/venue sourcing specialist to join a global travel & event company.

With more than 40 years in the industry and offices in over 50 countries, American Express Meetings & Events delivers end-to-end event management solutions for their clients.

This position resides within the Meetings & Events Team located in the Sydney CBD.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting domestic and international site searches, sourcing properties/venues adhering to client budgets and parameters
  • Recommend properties/venues taking in to account client’s budget and meeting objectives
  • Prepare Availability + Cost Comparison Reports that outline properties/venues for client meetings
  • Negotiating on all aspects of hotel/venue contracts on behalf of the client, driving the highest level of cost savings - this will include all aspects of an event
  • Understand attrition guidelines and cancellation penalties
  • Utilize Meeting Management Technology tools to manage RFP/response process
  • Maintain and report timely and accurate program data
  • Coordinate all logistics of domestic and international site inspections
  • Ability to co-ordinate with air team
  • Ad-hoc assistance for the Event Managers / Co-ordinators
  • Building and maintaining relationships with all suppliers

Qualifications:

  • Highly motivated, consultative strategic thinker with a minimum 3 years experience in meeting planning, sourcing
  • Hotel or Venue sales/event management experience highly regarded
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of management, vendors and clients exhibiting excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess highly developed intra personal skills
  • Domestic and International destination/hotel and supplier knowledge
  • Advanced contract negotiation skills, must be able to demonstrate driving cost savings
  • Ability to independently handle multiple projects in a fast paced, time sensitive environment
