Sand Hill Road will open the doors to Hotel Esplanade in November.  Embracing the venue’s rich and proud history, Sand Hill Road’s vision is to restore the St Kilda icon to its former grandeur and glory, and create a dynamic new dining, drinking and music destination for Melbourne. 
 
Opening up parts of the venue that many never knew existed, ‘The Espy’ will offer a diverse range of lifestyle experiences including a main bar, garden terrace, public bar and basement, three music stages (including the beloved Gershwin Room), expansive kitchen and dining area, Cantonese restaurant with accompany cocktail bar, and a world class sophisticated cocktail bar on the top floor.
 
Sand Hill Road has spent the last twelve months delving into the venue’s fascinating history and meeting the local community to help shape The Espy’s exciting new chapter.
 
We're on the hunt for an experienced General Manager to lead the reimagined Hotel Esplanade.
 
This is not your average General Manager role.  We are looking for an experienced operations manager to step up to the plate and drive the growth of one of Melbourne’s newest, most anticipated venues.  The Espy is all geared up to be a thriving, multi-faceted, high pressure environment and we need an absolute legend who shares our values, who brings passion and positivity, who will drive their own growth and the growth of their team, and isn't afraid to challenge us in order to find the best solutions.
The successful applicant must be an industry expert with experience in the following areas:

• Understanding and remaining within venue concept
• Recruiting, inducting and training a professional team of bar tenders, waiters, managers, hosts, security and chefs introducing the highest level of customer service standards
• Exceptional food and beverage knowledge
• An in-depth understanding of hospitality marketing and sales
• The ability to run a large team and work closely with the senior leadership team
• Driving positive culture and driving values
• Meeting and exceeding expectations of a board of senior managers and Directors
• A true understanding of hospitality finances, including an in-depth understanding of wage and cost of goods targets
• Contributing to driving this business through innovation and creative ideas
• A willingness to take on a true challenge and drive a new venue to become exceptional
