Childcare Cook
We are seeking a dedicated team member with the passion to provide healthy meal choices to fuel our children.
Skills and Qualifications
- Relevant safe food handling certificates. Applicants with ‘Supervisor Certificate’ qualifications will be highly regarded.
- A current ‘Working with Children Check’.
- Experience and passion for creating healthy children’s meals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A bright and friendly personality.
- Excellent time management, problem-solving skills and ability to work well under pressure.
- Ability and willingness to learn, listen and work unsupervised.
- Maintain a high level of health & safety standards.
- Applicant must have impeccable personal hygiene.
- Sound computer skills for menu planning and online ordering, as a minimum.
Key Priorities
- Plan nutritionally balanced meals consisting of five-food groups over the course of the day.
- Understanding of allergies and cultural requirements.
- Preparation of meals, including but not limited to: morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and late snack.
- Periodically and seasonally review menu plans and submit to the Centre Manager for approval to ensure they adhere to centre budgets.
- Create menus and display in Centre.
Applicants with the following will be highly regarded.
- Previous experience cooking in childcare services, or experience with catering for large numbers.
- An interest and passion for implementing cooking experiences with children.
- Current Senior First Aid Certificate.
