About the business and the role
The John Flynn College is an independent Residential College at James Cook University in Townsville with a proud tradition of providing a caring and supportive Christian environment for 250 young adults living and studying at James Cook University. We are seeking to employ people with a genuine commitment to helping young adults achieve to their full potential.
We are seeking experienced, motivated and organised catering staff able to work unsupervised for part time hours over a seven day roster university term only. Responsibilities will include but will not be limited to cooking breakfast buffet style, food preparation such as fruit, vegetables and salads, cooking of various hot dishes and cleaning duties. Food handlers certificate essential.
This is a temporary part time role (25hrs per week) starting immediately until the end of the university semester with the possibility of extension.
About the successful candidate
The successful candidate will be an experienced hospitality worker who is passionate about food and dedicated to customer service. Ideally they will demonstrate:
- at least 3 years' experience in commercial kitchens
- knowledge of food hygiene
- sound knife skills
- an understanding of time management and sound organisational skills
Most importantly, the successful candidate will demonstrate an attitude of excellence in their work and a genuine desire to serve young people.
