Chef Manager - Aged Care, Newcastle

Cater Care are currently seeking an experienced Chef Manager to prepare healthy nutritious meals for our Aged Care residents in Elermore Vale.

 

The key to our success is our people. Reporting to the Operations Manager, your role in this environment is to provide friendly, attentive and efficient service to our valued residents through the cooking of a variety of meals, preparation of ingredients and food service.

 

This position is a hands-on position requiring you to prepare, cook and serve meals for approx 110 residents as well as manage a dedicated team of staff. 

Key Responsibilities include:

• Preparation of ingredients/menu - adherence to service times with consistency and quality of food product

• Special diets and diet requirements including allergies/intolerances, supplements and texture modified soft & purees

• Overall management of food service operations, menu planning and overseeing the various kitchen staff

• Staff Management including rosters, timesheets, training/development and motivation of staff, encouraging staff productivity, managing staff inductions and replacements

• Financials including working within weekly budgets, administration, food and labour cost analysis, stock control: ordering and stocktakes

• Forming and maintaining key relationships with residents, staff, client and management

• All aspects of kitchen operations, including monitoring and promoting kitchen hygiene and Food Safety practices

Key Criteria:

• Trade qualified chef

• Previous managerial experience in a similar position within Aged Care

• Experience in bulk cooking and providing high quality customer service

• Thorough understanding of WH&S and Food Safety practices

• Ability to manage food and labour costs

• Ability to organise and delegate to a small team

• Exceptional communication and engagement skills with residents, employees and management

The successful candidate will be well presented and self-motivated with excellent organisational and communication skills.

Roster: Monday to Friday 9:00 am - 5.30 pm

Salary: $65,000
