About the role

Based in Stanthorpe in the beautiful Granite Belt region, you will not have to balance your life around split and weekend shifts anymore, as this position only requires availability Monday to Friday from 9am to 5:30pm.

You will be responsible for overseeing, preparing and cooking high quality, nutritious meals for our residents with special dietary requirements. Supervising and mentoring a committed small team, you will also ensure daily tasks are maintained according to operational guidelines. Ensuring kitchen and food service budgets are met, you will maintain stock and stock controls, and quality checking. You will have the opportunity to make meal time the highlight of the day for our residents and ensure adherence to food safety regulations. Sharing your cooking experience and compassionate and patient nature, you will actively contribute to establishing high standards of customer service to our residents and participate in continuous improvement.

Remuneration package indicative of 70k per annum plus superannuation, with salary packaging benefits that greatly increase take-home pay.

About you

You are an experienced Chef who is organised and willing to take on a diverse role in the residential aged care environment. Driven by challenges, you are looking for a role where your input will make a real difference to the lives of our residents.

With your comprehensive understanding of legislation relevant to the industry you confidently ensure the application of safe food hygiene practices. Your highly developed prioritization, time management, leadership and problem solving techniques are just some of your strengths. If you are also enthusiastic, reliable and work well in a team environment, this is an excellent opportunity for you.

Your experience and qualifications for this role should include:

  • Chef trade qualifications, Certificate IV Commercial Cooking or higher;
  • Solid experience as a commercial cook and in managing commercial or high volume kitchens;
  • A Food Safety Supervisor certificate is desirable;
  • Experience in the Aged Care industry is preferable, including an understanding of aged care dietary needs;
  • Practical knowledge of legislation relevant to hospitality services including demonstrated experience of operational achievement of accreditation standards.
