Cater Care are seeking an experienced Chef Manager to prepare healthy nutritious Homestyle meals for our valued residents in Aged Care facility in Kew.
The key to our success is our people, your role in this environment is to provide friendly, attentive and efficient service to our valued residents through cooking a variety of nutritious Homestyle meals, preparation of ingredients and food service.
This position is hands on requiring you to prepare and cook meals for residents, manage a dedicated team of staff, and take ownership of stock control, ordering, and food and labour costs.
Please note: successful applicants will be required to undergo a Police Clearance before commencing  
Roster: Monday to Friday 7.00am - 3.30pm
Salary: $60,000 + 
Key responsibilities
  • Cooking nutritious Homestyle meals: fresh baked morning/afternoon tea; hot lunches, soup, evening meal and dessert
  • Special diets and diet requirements including allergies/intolerances, supplements and texture modified soft & purees
  • Overall management of food service Operations, menu planning and costings
  • Staff Management of small team, including rosters and staff replacements, timesheets, training/development and inductions; motivation and encouraging staff productivity
  • Financials including working within weekly budgets, administration, food and labour cost analysis, stock control: ordering and stocktakes
  • Forming and maintaining key relationships with residents, staff, client and management
Key Criteria:
  • Trade qualified chef
  • Previous managerial experience in a similar position within Aged Care
  • Experience in bulk cooking and providing high quality customer service
  • Thorough understanding of WH&S and Food Safety practices
  • Ability to manage food and labour costs
  • Ability to organise and delegate to a small team
  • Exceptional communication and engagement skills with residents, employees and management

The successful candidates will have previous experience in a similar role working in Aged Care, Health or Hospitals. You will be a well presented and self-motivated individual who has excellent organisational and communication skills.
