Heron Island is a true coral cay, located right on the Great Barrier Reef. Ribboned by sugar white sands, crystal clear waters and acres of brilliant coral, our guests and staff discover a myriad of beautifully coloured marine life that takes everyone's breath away. An established resort with new owners, new investment and a vibrant new direction forward, Heron accommodates up to nearly 280 guests with the primary drawcard being located right on the Great Barrier Reef. There is a marine centre, activities centre, boutique, award-winning day spa, spacious lounge and bar overlooking the pool plus the expansive Shearwater Restaurant. Marine activities for guests and staff include world-class diving, snorkelling, kayaking and cruises.

Our Shearwater Restaurant is open every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast is an expansive hot and cold buffet style of a very high and generous standard. Lunch is a la carte focusing on light to medium meals as you'd expect in a good city bistro. Dinner is a variety of multi-selection buffet, seafood, a la carte and table d'hote. Barista-style coffee is on offer as is an extensive Australian and New Zealand wine list.

With the focus on being enthusiastic and experienced, we are specifically seeking applications for the following positions:

Restaurant Manager  -  knows how to run a fast-paced restaurant, train a team of people, implement great and consistent service standards and lead by example. Whilst rostering is an important element, taking full, active and hands-on responsibility for how the restaurant runs and that guests are super-happy with their experience is absolute.

Restaurant Supervisor - has the experience and keen to make a difference by supporting the Restaurant Manager and team. Fully proficient in all service aspects, has high attention to detail, seriously guest-focused and is full of energy. Definitely a leader and wanting to take your team and restaurant to great heights.

Restaurant Wait Staff - professional, experienced and engaging. Not afraid of hard work. Can work across the different service periods and styles, quickly adapting to whatever is required to deliver an exemplary dining experience. Friendly, positive and engaging. Cannot emphasise enough the requirement to be experienced.

At Heron Island Resort shared or private accommodation is offered, dependant on the position. Staff meals are provided daily as is access to staff social facilities and discounts for the wide range of activities on the island. Ferry transfers between the mainland are at no cost. This is a truly live-work together culture and experience which one must be prepared to embrace and fully respect.
