The Role
We are looking for qualified Chefs who are responsible for ensuring that the standard and quality of the food production and the hygiene within the department is maintained at the highest level always. This role is very much hands-on, requiring attention to detail and a positive work attitude.
The Responsibilities will include:
- Control and direct the food preparation process and any other relative activities.
- Construct menus with new or existing culinary creations ensuring the variety and quality of the servings.
- Approve and “polish” dishes before they reach the customer.
- Plan orders of equipment or ingredients according to identified shortages.
- Arrange for repairs when necessary
- Remedy any problems or defects
- Be fully in charge of hiring, managing and training kitchen staff
- Oversee the work of subordinates
- Estimate staff’s workload and compensations.
- Maintain records of payroll and attendance.
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation. regulations and safety standards
- Foster a climate of cooperation and respect between co-workers.
- Manage relationships with distributors and resolve issues with vendors promptly.
- Follow the budget established by the restaurant manager.
- Monitor food and labor costs.
- Keep up with industry trends and create new recipes in collaboration with the Sous Chef.
Qualification& Experience
- Years of Experience: minimum 2 years of relevant practical professional experience.
- Education: At least a certificate level of qualification.
Other skills & Knowledge
- Track record of supervising kitchen and wait staff effectively.
- Highly skilled in cooking and preparing a variety of cuisines.
- Excellent business acumen and customer service orientation.
- Excellent communication and organization skills.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Dedicated to food quality and control.
- Strong knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation standards
