Senior Sous Chef

We are seeking an experienced and passionate qualified Senior Sous Chef to lead the culinary team and make a positive impact!  This is a very fast paced role that combines the day to day traditional hands on kitchen line work as well as the more senior view with ordering, menu planning, food cost, recipe cards and rosters.

In this role, you will work closely with the Head Chef to consistently deliver an outstanding consistent dining experience that exceeds our guest's expectations.  You will also share the responsibilities of team leadership, training, coaching and profitability of the kitchen.  The current team is hard working, passionate and supportive and we’re seeking the same from you.  In this exciting opportunity you must love both food & people.

To be successful in this role, you will have a proven track record, a keen ability to learn, work well with others and accept direction and responsibility.

This one of a kind opportunity combines menu inception, creative, analytics, cooking and the physical aspects involved with culinary work.  Not for the faint hearted one must enjoy it all as you focus on the challenge of managing competing deadlines and leading from the front.

The role demands a seasoned Senior Sous Chef with a keen eye for detail possessing excellent cooking ability in addition to verbal and written communication skills.  You will need to be able to interact with people at all levels both back of house and front of house service personnel.   We’re looking for a very specialised person who possesses unlimited energy, a can-do approach, a proactive problem-solving ability with previous experience.

You will need to have a proven track record of managing all the various aspects that form part of a Senior Sous Chef role.  This includes:

  • Being prepared to work a rotating roster with a combination of days, evenings and weekends
  • Demonstrating a passion for food and an up to date knowledge of culinary trends
  • Possessing the right attitude and hunger to succeed
  • Having an ability to handle pressure in a professional manner
  • Having previous experience in a similar role of Brasserie style meals
  • Will have a complete and uncompromised understanding of HACCAP
  • Have excellent organisational skills and the ability to communicate as part of a team of individuals who seeks success as a department

Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years’ as a Senior Sous Chef;
  • Exceptional planning, organisational & time management skills;
  • Excellent computer literacy;
  • Possess interpersonal skills, professionalism and strong communication skills;
  • Ability to foster effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders;
  • Flexibility in working hours, including abnormal hours and weekends; and
  • Relevant culinary qualifications.
