DESTINATION COUNTRY AND OUTBACK NSW
The NSW Government is supporting a major overhaul in the way regional and rural areas attract visitors, including the creation of six new Destination Networks throughout NSW. Regional tourism is crucial to the creation of economic activity and NSW is Number One in Australia for visitors, visitor nights and visitor expenditure. We want to increasingly attract more of those visitors to country and outback NSW – from Cowra in the south to Tenterfield in the northeast and Broken Hill in the west. The Destination Country and Outback NSW board is actively developing its strategy and now seeks to appoint a General Manager for the Network.
Located at our Dubbo Headquarters, and preferably domiciled there as well, you will market and promote country and outback NSW; and showcase the diverse range of destinations and experiences this vibrant part of NSW has to offer potential visitors from across NSW, Australia, and the world. You will develop and implement the region’s Destination Management Plan and Business Plan, work with Local Government and industry on product development, including investment attraction, help deliver experiences, events and festivals and regional campaigns, explore conferencing, tours, local industry education and training for small- to medium-sized tourism operators and assist local industry to prepare funding applications.
As General Manager of the Network you will be an energetic and self-motivated leader with outstanding negotiation and influencing skills; have ability to liaise with a diverse range of stakeholders and across all strata of society, and your political astuteness and understanding of government will be key to your success.
