We are seeking 2 experienced kitchen hands is to assist the Chief Cook and Cook in providing a nutritious, varied and quality food service to young people and staff of a Youth Correctional Facility.

Applicants MUST be available to work at short notice and over a 7 day rotating roster including public holidays.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and provision of nutritious and varied meals to young persons and staff.
• Adherence to the security and safety of the Youth Detention Centre by observance of operational procedures and standards as they impact on kitchen processes and procedure
• Maintain a hygienic, safe and secure working environment, including cleanliness of work areas and kitchen equipment
• Assist in the control of stores and provisions
• Contribute to an effective system of stock control, eg recording and stock takes.
• Undertake administrative procedures in the food services area, including procedures for ordering, storing and distributing stores.

Mandatory requirements

• A minimum of 12 months experience in a fast paced high volume kitchen environment
• A CURRENT working with children blue card
• A current “C” Class Driver’s license
• Possession of a Food Handler’s Certificate or ability to obtain
