About the opportunity  

The role of the Executive Chef is to control all elements of the kitchen. This position will be hands on but needs to ensure there is ample time for client consultation, menu creation as well as creating and managing systems to control all costs associated with the kitchen and restaurant operations.

Duties of the role include:

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in Hospitality or Commercial Cookery
  • 3-4 years’ previous experience working in a similar role within a fast paced café, restaurant or commercial kitchen environment
  • Current Food Handlers Certificate or higher or willingness to obtain
  • Highly organised, multi-tasker with attention to detail
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Produce consistent quality service, and high quality foods
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent personal presentation
  • Good computer literacy skills, with experience with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to analyse costs and trends and act appropriately, and to work within an agreed budget

Campus Infrastructure & Services (CIS) is responsible for the built environment of the University of Sydney campuses including the provision of campus services, management of existing assets, planning solutions to operational needs and delivering approved projects in line with the University Strategic Plan and the Campus Improvement Program 2014-2020, which sets out the future direction for the development and improvement of the Camperdown-Darlington campuses.


CIS operates in a precinct matrix structure that aims to provide stakeholders with the highest standards of customer service. The matrix structure is focused around five (5) precincts with each precinct lead by a Precinct Manager (PM). The PM has relationship as outlined in the CIS service catalogue.
