As the Executive Chef you will make an impact by ensuring a high standard of food service is provided to all areas of the hospital, with a significant differentiation for private patient meals.


Key responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership to the catering team aiming for continued excellence in quality
  • Oversee the chefs to ensure recipes are followed and the quality of the cooked food is well presented and tasteful
  • Coordinate the preparation and cooking of meals and ordering of food supplies
  • Review menus to ensure delivery of nutritious meals that are cost effective whilst meeting the needs of the patients and offering variety
  • Responsible for the cooking of meals (when required) and supervising food preparation activities
  • Ensure compliance with exemplary standards of cleanliness of food preparation area
  • Ensure timely preparation and delivery of patient meals, morning/afternoon tea and supper in collaboration with the Catering Manager
  • Discuss special diet preparation and cooking in collaboration with dietitian as required
  • Ensure all food is stored in compliance with food regulation standards
  • Utilise food produce cost effectively

Opening 30 October 2018, Northern Beaches Hospital will be a fully licensed private hospital, providing care to public and private patients from an outstanding facility with a large range of quality services provided by exceptional nurses, doctors and staff.


An experienced Manager with a passion for developing talent within the team, you will also possess the following skills and attributes:
  • Tertiary qualifications as a chef
  • At least 3 years previous experience as a Head Chef or in a senior role in a large quality driven venue
  • Food Safety Supervisor certificate
  • HACCP Certification
  • Multi venue experience
  • Previous experience with dealing with external audits
  • Previous experience in a healthcare facility
  • Experience in running multiple food service areas within a quality high volume facility
  • Ability to prepare menus and cater for both internal and external events
  • Previous experience with a food management system e.g. Chefmax
  • Sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene principles
  • Understanding of different patient dietary requirements
  • Proven experience building and leading high performing teams with a service excellence approach
  • Passionate about building strong relationships and delivering exceptional customer service
  • Demonstrate sound time management, ability to prioritise and deliver delegated tasks timely
  • Flexible with shifts to work a rotating roster
