Division Overview

ACSL is a community based Not-for-Profit organisation, which has successfully managed a number of community employment programs. Under these programs, ACSL has delivered a range of community development, training, employment and welfare related programs targeting disadvantaged groups across Queensland for over 30 years. ACSL has continually achieved positive employment, skills and other socioeconomic impacts and outcomes for highly disadvantaged members of the community including migrants, refuges, long-term unemployed, youth etc. These programs focus on working to offer optimal support to address barriers encountered by our clients such as travel, literacy and access to local employer networks that led to great employment participation rates, increased education levels, higher incomes, better access to services, increased community engagement and socioeconomic gain for individuals and their families and the wider community.

Position Overview

Carry out tasks related to hospitality (including housekeeping, food and beverage, customer service, events and functions, administration etc.) under supervision consistent with learning progression. Complete learning and assessment outcomes required for the traineeship, whilst undertaking a Certificate I in Hospitality training program.



Key Responsibilities

  • Provide service support to the workplace supervisor;
  • Consistently offer professional, friendly engaging service;
  • Assist customers/guests in an informative and helpful way;
  • Follow Host Employer policies, procedures and service standards;
  • Develop a knowledge of Food and Beverage products and promotions;
  • Follow all safety and sanitation policies and procedures when handling food and beverage;
  • Take and deliver customer orders whilst providing excellent customer service;
  • Prepare set ups for tables and/or rooms, ensure cleanliness;
  • Following cash handling procedures as directed;
  • Assist other departments wherever necessary and maintain good working relationships;
  • Carry out administrative, receptionist, client assistance, information handling and other processing tasks if required or directed;
  • Maintain any records in a neat and orderly manner to ensure ease of locating documents, reports and other paperwork and identity improvements to current systems and practices;
  • Complete requested tasks and prioritise own tasks to meet appropriate deadlines to a high standard;
  • Respond to all general enquiries in a professional and friendly manner;
  • Running general errands as well as other general administrative duties if directed;
  • Provide professional and friendly customer service to ensure positive feedback is received;
  • Have input into de-briefs at staff meetings to discuss the ways in which processes could be amended if any difficulties occurred;
  • Workplace housekeeping tasks.


To be successful you must possess:

  • Responsible and reliable;
  • Ability to work as part of a team;
  • Ability to follow instructions, positive attitude, excellent grooming standards;
  • Flexibility to respond to a range of different work situations;
  • Ability to meet the eligibility requirements for the Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW) Program.

Desired but not essential:

  • Previous experience an asset;
  • Good communication and organisational skills;
  • Good interpersonal and problem solving skills;
  • Customer service Skills.
