ABOUT THE ROLE:

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and self motivated functions and events sales manager to broaden their career and join one of Sydney’s up and coming catering/events teams.

Along with managing and growing our existing events business the role includes managing leads and strive for new business for off-site events in multiple function spaces across Sydney. We are looking for someone motivated and enthusiastic about sales and events who can bring their passion for the industry to the position.

The successful candidate will work on range of corporate events, (cocktail parties, sit-down dinners...), special celebrations from birthdays to weddings, ensuring all guests have the most memorable experience we can offer from enquiry through to the day of the event.

The ideal candidate should be able to go above and beyond the expectations of both the customers and the company. The role will also entail adding the finishing touches to and assisting the role out of the businesses new boutique events brand.

Reporting to our Senior Event Manager, the role is focussed on staffed off-site events rather than delivered drop off catering which is already managed by a separate team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promptly and professionally responding to in-coming enquires via emails, website and phone calls
  • Accurately qualify each lead, determining the most appropriate offers and spaces to propose that would meet all the customers’ needs
  • Up-selling and converting packages where possible
  • Constant monitoring and updates of event pipeline, using event management software
  • Ensuring all leads are followed up to convert enquires into sales opportunities
  • Oversee the entire cycle of events from enquiry, negotiations, quotes, contracts, invoicing, run sheets and follow-ups.
  • Helping clients understand food & beverage offering, capabilities of the venues and styling of spaces
  • Tailoring unique offers to the client’s needs to ensure the upmost client satisfaction, in line with the offerings of the venues.
  • Be available for client walkthroughs and site inspections, functions meetings and weekly operations meetings
  • Be a part of networking events, tradeshows, and sales opportunities for the business
  • Responsible for weekly financial targets on functions, budgeting and sales projections
  • Work as a team alongside venue mangers, supervisors, finance and operation managers to ensure appropriate venue setups, bookings of site inspections and food and beverage arrangements
  • Develop and maintaining relationships with customers and regular clients
  • Organising and facilitating business relationships and functions
  • Updating and developing internal procedures and booking processes
  • Assist the role-out of the businesses new events brand;

  • Create bespoke events for private and corporate clients;
  • End to end delivery of events managing your onsite team on event day;
  • Maximise sales revenue and meet sales budgets;
  • Maintain and grow your client base;

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE POSITION YOU WILL HAVE:

  • Minimum two years experience in a similar sales position;
  • Experience booking, running and organising functions and events;
  • An eye for details;
  • The ability to convert enquiry to bookings;
  • The desire to exceed targets and drive functions;
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, in person, over phone and email correspondence;
  • Can work under pressure and with tight deadlines;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Organised, process driven and methodical;
  • Current Australian drivers license;
  • RSA;
