About the role

An exceptional opportunity has become available for an experienced Food Services Assistant to join the Mater Private Hospital Redland team on a casual basis. This position plays a pivotal role in contributing to the daily operations of the Food Services team based at Mater Private Hospital Redland. As a casual employee you will be required to work shifts between the hours of 5:30am to 9:30pm Monday to Sunday (inclusive), however your availability and the roster requirements will be discussed further at interview.

Providing the highest standards of service to our patients and service partners, this is a fast-paced role that will be best suited to candidates with a strong team focus who enjoy work that is diverse and requires the prioritisation of tasks.

Salary range: $22.10 - $24.22 per hour plus superannuation and casual loading

What you'll be doing

This is a hands-on role that will see you involved in a variety of activities throughout the day, including but not limited to:

• Preparation and delivery of meal trays, coffee and tea to patients
• Supply of menus and reading meal options to patients and taking of orders
• Some preparation of food including simple cooking and reheating of meals
• Preparation of chemicals, curtains, internal catch trays and operating the dishwasher as directed, scraping trays, loading dirty dishes, unloading clean dishes and appropriate storage of clean items
• General cleaning of the kitchen including but not limited to floors, walls and pantry kitchens.
• General duties as directed by the Supervisor or After Hours Managers.
• Incorporating OH&S practices in all areas of your work e.g. the use of protective clothing and checking environment is safe and hazard-free

About you

As the successful candidate, you will have:

• Previous experience working in food services or a similar hospitality position
• Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, which will be put to good use in liaising with colleagues and patients
• Good time management skills and ability to prioritise
• Proven high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently, in a fast-paced environment and as a member of a team
• Successful completion of the Food Safety & Hygiene Training
• Completion of the annual update of the Food Safety & Hygiene Training
