Ribs and Rumps is an iconic Australian steakhouse with restaurants up the East Coast of Australia in numerous locations from Tropical Townsville through to the beautiful city centre in  Sydney. It is renowned for its legendary ribs, aged to perfections steaks and mammoth proportions. QUANTITY and QUALITY is synonymous with the brand. It is the 250+ staff across our 7 locations who create the high energy, customer orientated culture within our restaurants that keeps customers returning.

We are currently recruiting for experienced Kitchen Manager / Head Chef to join our North Ryde store and assist with our brands continued growth.

The opportunity

Reporting to the Restaurant General Manager (RGM), you manage all kitchen operations and lead the back of house team. Your key tasks in this role are outlined below:

  • Leading and motivating a diverse back of house (BOH) team
  • Supervising the BOH staff to ensure superior product standards
  • Maintaining adequate stock levels
  • Effecting shift planning and management in line with forecast sales & budget
  • Managing daily kitchen operations and preparation
  • Recruiting, inducting and training BOH team members
  • Enforcing daily and weekly systems and procedures to ensure a high level of presentation, hygiene, service, product quality and security;
  • Performing administrative duties in conjunction with the RGM
  • Ensuring the cleanliness of the kitchen is aligned with Food Safety requirements and general hygiene practices;
  • Effectively managing the cost of goods and food wastage
  • Management and maintenance of all OHS requirements

About you

You have excellent 'people' management skills, a strong background in high volume kitchens and a desire to provide outstanding quality food. Further, you can demonstrate:

  • Inspiring and supportive leadership skills
  • 2-3 years' experience in similar management role
  • High level interpersonal skills, and excellent verbal and written communication
  • Certificate III – Commercial Cookery (desired);
  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
  • First Aid Certificate (preferred);
