Discovery’s strategy was developed with a significant investment in customer centric operations and technology. Discovery is looking to leverage the work across a larger footprint of parks through the introduction of Licensed parks.
The Role
As the Category Specialist you will be primarily responsible for managing your assigned categories in support of Discovery Parks strategic procurement plan to ensure the required savings and business growth objectives are achieved. You will be involved in the establishment, placement and management of contracting arrangements with suppliers to deliver the optimum service, quality, cost, schedule and safety requirements for the business, combined with relationship and performance management to achieve enhanced business value.
Reporting to the Head of Procurement you will be responsible for delivering savings to the business by utilising your skills in creating innovative processes and product supplies for the assigned categories. The role will also encompass developing the go to market strategy and business requirements, managing the supplier evaluation process, conduct supplier negotiations, finalise commercial agreements and the transition phase.
You must be able to demonstrate previous experience with developing sourcing strategies to optimise supply base and enhance the TCO of external spend as well as identifying and managing supply chain risks and opportunities.
The Category Specialist will be conducting and leading business reviews with the suppliers, coordinate standardisation and best practices across our Parks network, and be managing the online portal for key indirect categories as you work towards meeting your annual savings targets.
Your Experience
At least 5+ years demonstrated work experience in Procurement is highly essential as is possessing highly developed communication skills including verbal, written and presentation.
You must be able to prove previous experience with developing and negotiating contracts within key categories. Having a solid track record of delivering successful key supplier obligations whilst maximising cost savings is essential as is possessing extensive experience with supplier relationship management.
A professional qualification in Procurement (CIPSA) is not essential but desirable.
