Events Sous Chef for Refined Off-Site Event Caterer

Catering Project is launching a New Premium Events Brand to focus on the growth of our offsite events. To facilitate this we require an experienced, driven, passionate and detail oriented Events Sous Chef to join our events team.

Reporting to the Events Head Chef you will be executing and growing our existing events business while adding the finishing touches to and assisting with the role out of the businesses new events brand. This role requires the successful applicant to conceptualise and deliver premium corporate and private small and large scale events with our team of event planners.

Sophisticated presentation, trend setting refined canapes and sit-down menu creation skills coupled with the organisational and logistical mind to plan with the Head Chef and events team and in a very hands-on manner execute small / large scale offsite events is our vision.

Catering Project will continue to provide refined rustic drop off catering with this division of the business self-sufficient with their own team including a Drop Off Catering Head Chef.

RESPONSBILITIES

  • Collaborating with the Head Chef to implement creative menus for our Premium Brand;
  • Hands-on autonomous execution of offsite events across a variety of venues;
  • Executing refined canapes, sit-down event food, boardroom lunches, weddings and more;
  • Setting up and running off-site kitchen equipment;
  • Assisting the day to day operation of our new production kitchen;
  • Manage an event kitchen team including contract chefs, ordering and kitchen logistics;
  • Strong experience with ordering procedures and staff management;
  • Flexible, adaptable and open to working in a fast and often changing environment.

YOU WILL HAVE

  • 2+ years experience as Sous Chef in an Events Catering Kitchen or Events style venue;
  • Strong experience, passion and confidence in delivering high volume refined canapes;
  • Exceptional organisation skills including ablility to communicate with FOH and clients;
  • Strong understanding of food costings and maintaining stock levels;
  • Fluent in food safety and hygiene systems;
  • HACCP experience an advantage;
  • Excellent communication skills, time and resource management;
  • Be comfortable with all aspects of running a busy kitchen;
  • Availability to work evening and weekends as the needs of the business require;
  • Clean drivers license & experience in driving small vans
