Situated just 30 kilometres away from Brisbane is North Stradbroke Island - the world’s second-largest sand island and one of the most beautiful holiday destinations in Australia.

 

Surrounded by powdery white beaches, amazing wildlife and great surf, North Stradbroke Island is well known for its stunning landscape and natural beauty.

The locals get to experience the best that island living has to offer, with plenty of fishing, surfing, hiking and whale-watching on offer, but they can easily access the mainland via a short ferry ride.


ABOUT THE ROLE:


The Functions and Event Sales Manager role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and self-motivated events and sales manager to either broaden their existing skill set, or take the next step in their career at one of Queensland’s most idyllic holiday destinations.


Along with managing our existing events, the responsibilities of the role include managing leads and developing new business opportunities. We are looking for someone who is motivated and enthusiastic about sales and events, and can bring their passion for the industry to the position. Reporting to The General Manager, the role is focused on the on-site events that will be held at the hotel throughout the year.

 

The successful candidate will work on a range of corporate events, such as cocktail parties, sit-down dinners, and special celebrations from birthdays to weddings. They will be responsible for ensuring that all guests have the most memorable experience that we can offer, from their initial enquiry right through to the day of the event. The ideal candidate should be able to go above and beyond the expectations of both the customers and the company.

Although the hotel is located on North Stradbroke Island, this role can be performed remotely from a home office as we utilise Office 365 and IVvy event Management platform. However, there will be a requirement to attend the office a minimum of twice per week and to be on site to manage and run events as needed. Accommodation will be provided for all overnight stays, and assistance with travel to and from the island will be provided as part of the salary package.
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

·        Promptly and professionally responding to all in-coming enquires via email, website forms and phone calls

·        Accurately qualify each lead and propose the most appropriate offers and spaces that would meet all the customers’ needs

·        Up-selling and converting packages where possible

·        Constant monitoring and updates of the event pipeline, using event management software

·        Ensuring all leads are followed up to convert enquiries into sales opportunities

·        Oversee the entire cycle of events from enquiry, negotiations, quotes, contracts, invoicing, run sheets and follow-ups

·        Helping clients understand the food & beverage offering, capabilities of the venue and styling of spaces

·        Tailoring unique offers to the client’s needs to ensure client satisfaction in line with the offerings of the venues

·        Be available for client walkthroughs, site inspections, functions meetings and weekly operations meetings

·        Be a part of networking events, tradeshows, and sales opportunities for the business

·        Responsible for weekly financial targets on functions, budgeting and sales projections

·        Work as a member of the team alongside venue managers, supervisors, finance and operation managers to ensure appropriate venue setups, bookings of site inspections and food and beverage arrangements

·        Developing and maintaining relationships with customers and regular clients

·        Organising and facilitating business relationships and functions

·        Updating and developing internal procedures and booking processes

·        Assist the rollout of the businesses new events brand

·        Create bespoke events for private and corporate clients

·        End-to-end delivery of events managing your onsite team on event day

·        Maximise sales revenue and meet sales budgets

·        Maintain and grow your client base

 

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE POSITION YOU WILL HAVE:

 

·        Minimum two years’ experience in a similar position

·        Experience in booking, running and organising functions and events

·        An eye for detail

·        The ability to convert an enquiry to bookings

·        The desire to exceed targets

·        Strong customer service and communication skills, in person, over phone and email correspondence

·        Can work under pressure and with tight deadlines

·        Ability to work independently and as part of a team

·        Organised, process driven and methodical

·        Current Australian driver’s license

·        RSA certification
