About the business and the role
Women's Health and Wellbeing Services is seeking an enthusiastic and suitably qualified Psychologist to join our multidisciplinary team, within our men's program for a 1-year contract with possibility of extension.

FTE: 0.1 – 0.4 Depending on applicant.
Position based at Women's Health and Wellbeing Services, Suite 7, Level 1, 2232c Albany Hwy, Gosnells WA 6110.

Job tasks and responsibilities
To improve the health and wellbeing of men and their families in the south-east metropolitan area. To provide individual therapy to men, couples and families.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Counselling
Conduct initial interview to identify presenting problems and underlying issues of concern; explain the counselling service offered; assess the client's ability to pay; have required documents signed.
Contract with the client to define goals and tasks.
Provide up to 10 counselling sessions per client utilising a range of appropriate counselling techniques.
Participate in case conferences if required.
Ensure that at the end of the counselling process the client has appropriate plans and supports in place to cope and progress.
Comply with professional standards for Psychology.
Participate in clinical supervision and professional development activities.
Facilitate groups and classes as agreed with Therapeutic Manager.
Information and Referral
Provide information to clients to increase their awareness and understanding of health issues.
Assist clients to access health and community services.
Maintain a network of other agencies and services for appropriate referral of clients.
Maintain contact with other service providers to facilitate a collaborative approach on women's health issues and services.
Refer clients to specialist services where appropriate
Link clients in with other programs and groups offered by Women's Health and Wellbeing Services.
Reporting and Administration
Comply with service guidelines and agency timeframes.
Prepare and maintain case notes and client statistics in accordance with agency policy.
Participate in staff meetings and team activities.
Other duties as directed by Management.
Skills and experience
SELECTION CRITERIA
SELECTION CRITERION 1
The successful applicant will have at least a 4 year degree in psychology or social work and experience working in a therapeutic setting. Be eligible for Medicare registration where s/he has either eligibility or demonstrated eligibility for membership of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and the Psychology Board of Australia (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) or the Australian Association of Social Work.
SELECTION CRITERION 2
The successful applicant will have a strong theoretical knowledge of therapeutic (including diagnostic, behavioural and psychometric) assessment, and the ability to transfer this knowledge to practice. Willingness to integrate other theoretical frameworks and to treat a broad range of client issues.
SELECTION CRITERION 3
Relevant experience as a psychologist or mental health social worker working with individuals, couples and families.
SELECTION CRITERION 4
The successful applicant will be strongly committed to the field of mental health. Experience and enthusiasm in this area is essential.
SELECTION CRITERION 5
The successful applicant must be able to work successfully within a multidisciplinary team, and have excellent interpersonal skills. S/he must have a high level of both oral and written communication.
SECECTION CRITERION 6
Hours: WHWS is seeking psychologists for after hours services. Shifts to be filled include:
Tuesday evenings 5-9pm
Wednesday evenings 5-9pm
Thursday evenings 5-9pm
Saturday mornings 9am – 12.30pm
