The Business

A small business that provides products and services for medical and industrial applications. These include laser systems, products for radiation oncology, radiology and imaging such as CT-Scans and X-Rays.

With a current staff of ten, this business has a high level of care for their team with a strong focus on creating a positive working environment for their staff.

The Role

The role of Application and Sales Specialist is primarily to demonstrate the effective use of the business’ products and services to Radiation Therapists, Medical Physicists and Radiation Oncologists. The purpose of the demonstrations will have both a sales and training focus.

The main responsibilities of the role include:-

  • To assist in the development and expansion of the business’ current customer database by contacting Radiation Oncology Centres throughout Australia and New Zealand and identifying the key decision-makers in each centre.
  • To setup and attend meetings with key people at each centre.  The purpose of the initial meeting is to ascertain the methods and protocols being used and how the business’ products can be of benefit to that centre.
  • To arrange periodic follow-up meetings with each customer to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • To highlight the commercial advantages of dealing with the business by effectively demonstrating the products and services.
  • To maintain accurate records of all sales and prospecting activities including sales calls, presentations, closed sales, and follow-up activities.

The Successful Candidate

  • The right mindset and motivation, will comprise the most important selection criteria.
  • Medical or Human Biology Background. A Radiation Therapist background is preferred but not essential.
  • The ability to quickly learn and be able to recall product information, advantages and selling points including: (1) An in-depth understanding of products in order to demonstrate those product in a medical environment; (2) Ability to field and answer questions about products; and (3) An understanding of medical terminology used in the clinical environment in relation to the products.
  • Self-driven, with the ability to stay motivated working from home and autonomously.
  • High levels of care for the customer. This includes building high levels of trust with the customer and operating with integrity in all aspects of the role.
  • The ability to build strong internal relationship with all support departments to ensure a positive working environment is maintained.
