The Department of General Medicine has available a 12 month position as Clinical Pharmacology Fellow (1.0 EFT), commencing February 2019. The position is based at the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH), Melbourne.
This position will provide an advanced trainee in Paediatrics with experience and training in general medicine. The position interacts with other Fellows in General Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Rheumatology and Immigrant Health as well as more junior trainees.
The Clinical Pharmacology Fellow will assist within the clinical consulting service monitoring patients regarding drug use, toxicology and overdose; supervision of therapeutic drug monitoring; preparation of Hospital guidelines for the use of new and old drugs; involvement in RCH Drug Usage Committee (DUC), adverse drug monitoring and other quality assurance programs; attend Adverse Drug Reaction Clinic (Allergy) and Drug Exposure in Pregnancy Risk Clinic; act in a supervisory capacity for junior staff learning about clinical pharmacology/adverse reaction issues; and gain experience in longitudinal outpatient follow-up of patients. As well, the Clinical Pharmacology Fellow will undertake the Night Medical Lead role for three months within the 12 months of this appointment.
Please note the successful applicant will be required to undergo a Police Check and Working with Children Check. In addition, all International Medical Graduate applicants will need to have passed the IELTS test (results must indicate a score of 7 or above in all bands) in order to apply for this position.
