Rural Generalist (Procedural GP) – DWS – Cohuna, VIC

Outstanding opportunity for an experienced rural generalist (GP Proceduralist) to join a well established mixed billings practice to commence immediately in the DWS location in Cohuna, VIC. Supporting both the general practice and hospital on-call roster as GP VMO, you will also have the opportunity to provide anaesthetics and/or obstetrics services to the town.

About the Town

Cohuna is a country town located on the south of the Murray River, 3 hours drive north of Melbourne and 1 hour from Swan Hill, Echuca, Bendigo and Kerang. Cohuna is the gateway to Gunbower island, Australia’s largest inland island. With a population of 3000, the town itself lies beside the beautiful Gunbower Creek, which is a popular holiday destination for campers, fishing enthusiasts, bird watchers and water skiiers. Cohuna is one of the most diverse agricultural regions in Victoria.

About the Opportunity

Outstanding opportunity for an experienced rural generalist (GP Proceduralist) to join our well established mixed billings practice in the town of Cohuna, located just over 3 hrs north-east of Melbourne, VIC. Join our well established practice, which is supported by a highly skilled administration team and CDM trained nurses.

Working alongside a team of highly experienced GPs, you will work a minimum of 9 sessions in general practice each week and be paid under the RDA settlement package.

The new GP will take over an existing patient base from a departing GP and can expect to see 25+ patients per day. You will receive on and offsite operational and clinical management support. As the premiere provider of primary care, the doctors in the practice provide on call services to Cohuna Hospital.

Obstetrics & Anaesthetics Procedures

• As GP Obstetrician you will have an Advances Diploma in Obstetrics
• Cohuna has an average of 80 births per year, with a 15% caesarian rate
• 3-4 Anaesthetics lists per month
• Join a team of 3 Procedural GP’s, lead by Dr Peter Barker who has supported the community for over 30 years.

Position Requirements

• General Practitioners with Vocational Registration desirable
• FANZCA or JCCA (Anaesthetics only)
• Current Emergency certificate and currency of practice
• Advanced Diploma in Obstetrics – DRANZCOG (Obstetrics Only)
