Staff Specialist/VMO General Surgeon
Mid-north Coast NSW
Salary as per NSW award plus package

A rural hospital on the mid-north coast are currently searching for an experienced General Surgeon to join an established team. Working across emergency and elective lists, you will competent in all aspects of General Surgery. There may also be scope to develop a special interest area. As a rural referral centre, this hospital provides a large number of services to the local community and the NSW Government has just agreed to invest an extra $20 million in the redevelopment of it. Along with working a negotiated on-call roster, you will also be involved in the teaching of junior doctors and students as this hospital is home to one of the University of Newcastle's Departments of Rural Health. The General Surgery team at this hospital is known for being stable and very rarely relies on locums to provide care. This exciting opportunity has only become available as one of their surgeons is moving into retirement so we are looking for someone who is interested in joining the team and the local community.
This opportunity is in a town on the stunning mid-north coast of NSW. The hospital is located in a regional town of approximately 26,000 but services an area of over 100,000. Home to over 45km of beautiful beaches and nine national parks, there is plenty to discover and explore (including the longest single drop waterfall in the southern hemisphere). The local area is also known for its supportive community making it ideal for families seeking a change for the city. Sydney is a 3 ½ drive away but there are also daily flights and train services.
