ABOUT THE ROLE
SummitCare Wallsend is a modern 142 bed residential aged care centre located in Wallsend, Newcastle Region of NSW.
The centre offers our residents light-filled rooms, a café, extra services, specialised dementia care services and more.
SummitCare Wallsend is seeking to appoint individuals to the following positions on a part time or casual basis.
Assistant Nurses will be responsible for ensuring that the day-to-day individual care needs of the residents are met and maintained, under the supervision and direction of the Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse.
You will work to a high standard of practice to collaboratively deliver care and support that promotes client choice and control, allowing clients to direct their own care and support in line with the agreed individual care and support plan.
To be successful, you will have:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A strong ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Ability to work with a diversity of people, including staff and clients from a CALD background
- Experience working in Residential Aged Care preferable
- Strong ability to achieve goals within the set time frames
- Excellent customer service skills and solid understanding of Client Directed Care
- Sound understanding and knowledge of best practice principles relating to Work Health and Safety, Infection Control and Incident Reporting
- A current Criminal Record Check
- A Current First Aid Certificate (desirable)
Key position requirements
Assistant Nurse
- Completed Certificate III (or higher) in Individual Support (Aged Care)
- Year 2 / 3 Student RN undertaking Bachelor Nursing
- A commitment from you on your advised availability
- Willingness to develop skills in line with current care and support practices relevant to aged care
