About the Opportunity

Ravenhall is recruiting a Senior Clinician for the Close Supervision Unit to provide clinical leadership and supervision to a multidisciplinary clinical team within a specialist behavioural unit. 

The Senior Clinician of the Close Supervision Unit (CSU), works in a 25-bed Unit for prisoners with extreme and/or challenging behaviours. The CSU accommodates prisoners with a diverse range of behavioural issues including aggression, self-harming behaviours, personality disorders, mental illness, and cognitive impairments such as Acquired Brain Injury and Intellectual Disability. The Unit provides a phased treatment program with the aim of stabilising behaviours, providing relevant intervention and then transitioning prisoners to a less restrictive mainstream environment.

The Senior Clinician will oversee the delivery of clinical services within the CSU.  They will have an opportunity to supervise, coach and mentor clinical staff to assist them to provide ethical and responsive interventions that make a real difference in the lives of prisoners and their families.  

The Senior Clinician will supervise a team of clinicians undertaking diverse evidence-based clinical work including the completion of forensic risk assessments, and delivery of a range of therapeutic interventions that address complex and challenging behaviour including relationship difficulties, self-regulation, trauma, coping and distress.

GEO will provide the Senior Clinician with ongoing supervision and professional development opportunities to assist with development and growth whilst at Ravenhall.  GEO is committed to developing a positive working culture at the Centre and the Senior Clinician will play a pivotal role in this via their role-modelling as well as mentoring, coaching and supervision of staff.    

Your Skills & Experience

To be successful in the Senior Clinician role you will have:

  • Full registration as a Psychologist or Social Worker with the Psychology Board of Australia (PBA) or Australian Association of Social Work (AASW), respectively.
  • Two or more years of experience as a registered practitioner completing assessments, individual and group interventions, in a correctional, clinical or other relevant setting, preferably with mandated clients with complex and challenging behaviour including intellectual disability and ABI.
  • Demonstrated experiencing in Functional Behaviour Assessment, applied behaviour analysis and the development of holistic behaviour support and treatment plans.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the “What works” literature in offender rehabilitation, in addition to the application of the Good Lives Model (GLM) and principles of Risk Need Responsivity (RNR) in reducing recidivism in offender populations.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a multidisciplinary team of clinical professionals including the provision of clinical supervision, guidance and mentoring.
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise, support and reinforce cross-agency consultation and collaboration in order to achieve shared goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively and efficiently prepare and vet complex clinical reports.
  • An ability to communicate a clear vision, manage performance expectations, and ensure policies and procedures are adhered to.
