About the business and the role
This is a unique opportunity for a nurse to work as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team led by an Orthopaedic Surgeon.
The primary purpose of this role is to deliver excellent patient care as directed by the Surgeon, which includes both patient relations and clinical matters.
We are seeking a dedicated, well organised and highly motivated individual who welcomes new challenges and has a natural ability to build strong and successful relationships with patients and the broader medical community.
The candidate will be required to work flexible hours, Monday to Friday with occasional weekends across several Sydney locations (Bella Vista, Hurstville, Macquarie and Wahroonga) on a full time basis.
The key responsibilities include:
- Liaising with patients by answering enquiries, taking phone calls responding to mail and website enquiries
- Establishing a personal rapport with potential and actual patients across the Surgeons scope of practice including hips and knee
- Conducting medical screenings for patients
- Completing appropriate paperwork, bookings and surgical files
- Scheduling patients for laboratory and radiologic tests, pre and post operative
- Managing patients needs post and pre operatively including education sessions and contacting patients prior to surgery
- Accurately recording patient clinical notes and medical reports
- Coordinating surgical lists with Hospitals and the Surgeon
- Obtaining insurance pre authorisations where appropriate
- Liaising and communicating with company representatives regarding medical devices
- Informing patients of costs of care/surgery and providing further information where appropriate
- Transcribing routine correspondence and medical reports from dictation or written notes
- Interacting with patients, patients’ families, referring physicians and other external agencies with regard to patient-related issues
- Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies
- Applying critical reasoning and professional judgement to clinical nursing decisions and patient care delivery
- Managing unpredictable/emergency situations efficiently and effectively
- Setting priorities and monitoring work flow
- Covering receptionist duties when required
Essential and Desirable Criteria
- Current registration with APHRA as a Nurse
- Clinical experience with the ability to provide a high standard of clinical care
- Knowledge of Genie software desirable
- Proficient in all aspects of Microsoft suite and t
- Strong computer literacy and typing skills
