VMO General Practitioner Obstetrician - Leeton

Purpose of Position

The Visiting Medical Officer will provide clinical management and treatment of patients in a Local Health District (LHD) facility under their care. This care will be provided within the scope of practice granted by the LHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee.

VMO - GP Obstetrician

At Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) we provide a range of public health services to the Riverina and Murray regions of New South Wales; across a geographic area of approximately 125,631 square kilometres.  With around 241,000 residents living within our District, we employ approximately 4,000 staff who work within our 31 hospitals and community facilities.

The Leeton Health Service is seeking an experienced VMO - GP Obstetrician to join their health service who has:

• Unconditional General and/or specialist Medical Registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
• Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and/or Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine and/or Vocational Recognition as a General Practitioner
• Significant experience and/or formal recognition as a Procedural General Practitioner with advanced skills and Joint Consultative Committee Obstetrics (JCCA – DRANZCOG advanced or equivalent)
• Minimum three (3) years post graduate clinical experience. Previous experience in Emergency Medicine, General Practice, Adult Internal Medicine, Paediatrics or Rural Medicine an advantage
• Sound knowledge of and commitment to clinical quality and patient safety, work health and safety, working within NSW Health Policy and current clinical practice guidelines
• Knowledge of contemporary clinical management and modern approaches in assessment and management of the broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions. Competence in performing the range of minor urgent procedures commonly undertaken in a rural emergency department including Advanced Life Support and Trauma management
• Demonstrated commitment to behaviour which align to the NSW Health CORE values and MLHD Values, goals and strategies.

Leeton Health Service is a 71 bed D1a peer grouped Community Hospital with surgery.  Of the 71 beds, 38 are State Funded Residential Aged Care Service (SFRACS) beds and four are day surgery beds and four are bassinets.  The facility provides emergency, medical, palliative, surgical, obstetric, radiology and aged care services.  Outpatient and community health services are also provided https://youtu.be/Q22tVmtj6Y8
