About the business

Our client is an established healthcare provider in Melbourne's inner East specialising in forensic and medico-legal occupational therapy, rehabilitation and vocational counselling. They provide OT assessment services and advice within the multi-tiered Victorian court system, as well as in rehabilitation and injury management helping individuals return to a sustainable level of well-being.

About the role

This is a contractor Occupational Therapist role to assess functional capacity with respect to work, independence and social engagement. Our client is passionate about supporting individuals and is looking for a like-minded OT to add to their team. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Completing forensic OT assessments
  • Preparing assessment reports to be used in court
  • Provide OT consultancy services to individuals and employers
  • Undertaking task analyses of discrete occupations as supplementary evidence to opinion
  • Reviewing and providing professional advice from legal reports provided by lawyers
  • Being an expert witness within the court system, if required
  • Supporting and engaging with the other company OT professionals to ensure an ongoing, consistent and best-practice approach to medico-legal service provision.

Skills and experience

You will need:

  • Minimum BAppSC (OT), full membership of AAOT and AHPRA registration with insurance
  • Minimum 7-10 years' experience in physical or psychiatric rehabilitation, occupational rehabilitation or vocational counselling
  • Own ABN and Worksafe provider number
  • Strong analytical thinking skills
  • Assessment and interview experience with highly developed rapport building skills
  • Excellent command of English, including high level of literacy
  • Articulate communicator
  • Preference for autonomous work with minimal supervision, although professional coaching and mentoring will be provided
  • Engage with, and support, staff and clients to ensure the best outcome
  • Willing to share knowledge, tolerant, curious and a deep desire to make a difference
  • Intermediate MS Office 
  • Locally located would be advantageous
