Despite huge advances in the success rates for treatment of paediatric leukaemia in general, when this disease occurs in babies the outcomes are dismal. Therefore we are working towards development of safer and more effective targeted therapies for this disease. We currently have an opportunity for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team. The work involves utilising highly clinically relevant patient-derived xenograft models of infant leukaemia to advance new treatments towards their clinical application. Another important aspect is to improve these models even further to increase the efficiency of translating from the laboratory to the clinic. This is an excellent role for someone who has expertise in cancer biology, experience with cell and molecular biology techniques and small animal models of cancer and who is dedicated to generating high quality pre-clinical data.

We currently have an opportunity for a Research Officer/Research Assistant to join our team on a Full-Time fixed term basis. This is a great role for someone who is dedicated to furthering the fight to cure childhood cancer.


Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Design, conduct and analyse experiments to develop new therapeutic approaches for childhood leukaemia
  • Develop new animal models for studying childhood leukaemia
  • Contribute to the overall planning and direction of the research team
  • Publication of high quality original research articles
  • Presentation of work at scientific meetings
Qualifications, experience and skills required:
  • Doctorate in a relevant scientific or medical field with 1-5 years experience for Research Officer
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field and 2+ years research experience for Research Assistant
  • A track record of publications
  • Advanced technical skills in cancer cell biology and molecular biology. Experience with advanced molecular techniques is highly desirable.
  • Expertise in animal handling and monitoring
  • Knowledge of or experience with patient-derived xenograft models of leukaemia highly desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team
  • Demonstrated problem solving capabilities
  • Strong work ethic
