We are looking for a casual secretary/receptionist to join our small team at a private medical/ psychological practice with two practitioners. We aim to provide a rewarding, friendly and comfortable work environment which fosters a down to earth, family feeling in the practice and with our patients.

Casual position, 19-25 hours per week, across two/three days between Monday and Thursday

We are looking for a Medical Secretary/Receptionist with an understanding of the importance of running a busy clinic from a front of house perspective. A professional and friendly communication style is needed, as well as flexibility, an ability to multi-task and be proactive, the ability to job share to ensure workflow consistency and work harmoniously within a small team.

To be suitable for our position, you would have at least 5 years' experience within the medical setting (ideally a GP or specialist medical practice) competence in the use of Microsoft Office, Medical Director (or similar) and MYOB, medical audio-typing skills to at least 50 wpm, competency using computerized practice management software, and a friendly professional communication style.

We are located in Scarborough, close to amenities including shopping centers and public transport.

Responsibilities include but will not be limited to:

  • Answering telephone calls and dealing with face to face enquiries
  • Efficient and friendly provision of front desk reception
  • Appointment coordination including email and telephone response
  • Practice administration including patient accounts, daily mail, filing, etc
  • Processing bulkbilling online Medicare/DVA
  • Some medical digital audio-typing of patient and practice correspondence
  • Booking and re-scheduling appointments
  • Managing client and patient files in a highly confidential manner
