Counsellor Psychologist Job Adelaide Temporary Full Time

Your new company
This Australian-wide community-based mental health service, specialising in service provision for eligible members of the veteran and defence force communities and their families, are currently seeking a Counsellor for a temporary full-time position starting as soon as possible. The role is initially until June 2019 with the possibility of extension.

Your new role
You will provide high quality services including;

  • Conducting initial intakes, assessments and referrals
  • Providing evidence based individual, couple and family counselling.
  • Manage a case load to ensure eligible clients achieve outcomes identified in care planning processes.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of group programs
  • Liaise and form partnerships with relevant government departments, ex-service organisations, community health and welfare agencies, and all other organisations involved in meeting the identified needs of veteran and defence force communities and families.


What you'll need to succeed

  • It is essential that you are an AHPRA registered Psychologist or an AASW registered Social Worker with a Mental Health Accreditation with a strong understanding of trauma related psychology
  • An understanding of the nature of issues and challenges faced by military veterans, defence force personnel, and their families
  • The ability to respond to specific client needs in ways that enables the development of trust and confidence in the service.
  • A high level of competence in the application of a range of evidence-based clinical interventions and other activities relevant to promoting and supporting the positive mental health of the client group.
