About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Rehabilitation Registrar (Advanced Trainee) to join the team at Epworth Geelong in February 2019.

The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) Advanced Trainee (Registrar) in Rehabilitation Medicine is a full-time 1.0 EFT (38 hours/week) position based primarily at Epworth Rehabilitation Geelong. The Rehabilitation Registrar Training Position is designed to provide exposure to a wide range of clinical matters pertaining to Rehabilitation in a large complex not-for-profit private hospital setting.

The Rehabilitation Registrar will be part of the Epworth Rehabilitation Team which aims to provide an individualised program for patients to achieve optimal functional potential in physical, psychological, emotional, social and community activities of daily living.

The role will cover a caseload with a broad general casemix. The workload is predominantly musculoskeletal, orthopaedic, neurological and pain management centred within which the number of new admissions varies considerably; maximum 5-6 per day; average 1-3 per day depending on discharges. The Registrar is required to also undertake outpatient clinic review of discharged patients.

The unit has 29 beds, plus a variable number of chronic pain inpatients, but in accordance with the AFRM guidelines, the Registrar's caseload will be fixed at 20 allocated to five of the consultants, and will exclude the geriatric reconditioning and more specialised trauma rehabilitation patients.

This role offers excellent opportunities for developing your knowledge base and experience towards Fellowship.

To be eligible, you must be a registered candidate with the RACP College Training Program. For further details on this Training Program please refer to https://www.racp.edu.au/trainees/advanced-training/advanced-training-programs/rehabilitation-medicine-general
