About the role

The hospital currently has 61 in-patient beds, 17 bay Day Surgery unit, 4 operating theatres and CSSD, 12 chair chemotherapy unit, 5 bed Supportive Care Unit and a 4 bed Higher Observation Unit and is undergoing major growth and development to meet the expanding needs of a rapidly growing region.

Specialties include General Medical and Surgical, Colorectal, Breast Endocrine, Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, Gynaecology, Vascular, Plastic Surgery, Oral/Dental, Gastroenterology, Oncology & Palliative Care.

The Oncology Day Centre Nurses are responsible for administration of Chemotherapy, blood products and other Oncology/ Haematology related treatments, as well as use and care of Central Venous Access Devices (CVAD). This role also requires excellent interpersonal skills, as the successful applicant will need to work well in a small team environment, whilst maintaining a strong rapport with the patients and their families, Oncologists, Physicians and other members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure a holistic approach to patient care.

 

What you bring 

  • Registered with AHPRA and current practising certificate
  • Graduate Diploma in Oncology/ Haematology nursing
  • Experience in Oncology Day Centre nursing
  • Have completed or be willing to complete Antineoplastic Drug Administration Course
  • Excellent interpersonal amd communication skills with a variety of customers
  • Reliable and flexible
  • Competent in IV cannulation or be willing to complete training
  • Competent in use and care of CVAD’s
  • Ability to function harmoniously within a small team environment
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Thorough nursing assessment skills
  • A desire to join a team committed to the care of others in a mission based organisation
