- Nurse Coordinator of HIV Treatment and Prevention Service - RN Gr 4B Community Health,
- Full-time - 80 hours per fortnight plus ADO
- Monday to Friday
- Ongoing position.
- We are situated at 580 Swanston Street Carlton, close to Melbourne’s vibrant CBD.
About Melbourne Sexual Health Centre (MSHC)
Melbourne Health Centre (MSHC) has been in operation for 100 years having been established in 1918 as a specialised unit for the diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). It has been part of Alfred Health since 2003. The service has established a reputation for clinical excellence by providing high-quality sexual health care. We are world leaders in sexual health with an ongoing active focus on post-graduate training and education, clinical consultancy and research. The staff of approximately 70 includes Infrastructure support, Counsellors, Doctors, Nurses, Researchers and postgraduate students.
The HIV service also known as the green room or TGR provides care for around 1400 people living with HIV. This service operates mainly on an appointment based system. Clients attend without appointments for various presentations.
In addition, we also run PrEP appointment only services on two days per week from this clinical space.
About the Nursing Team
We have almost 40 nurses in our team, including enrolled nurses, nurse practitioners and research specific nurses. The majority of our nurses currently hold a postgraduate certificate in sexual health, are nurse immunisers, and a high proportion hold a master’s degree.
We are seeking a nurse leader with proven experience in the areas of HIV care and service delivery who fulfils the requirements of the position description.
To succeed in this role you will have
- Proven experience in the provision of HIV and sexual health nursing services in a leadership role
- Demonstrated use of a public health framework to provide best practice healthcare in a HIV treatment and prevention context, including audits, resource and policy and procedure and the Extensive knowledge of contemporary HIV nursing practices, and community partnerships within current policies and frameworks
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in HIV treatment and prevention health issues
- Self-motivated with proven collaborative and supportive team leadership skills.
- Proven ability to problem solve, setting priorities and working to set timelines
- Demonstrated responsibility for supervision of another member of the nursing team, including education and mentoring.
