Come and be a part of a new, nurse led mental health team as we build a service that supports mental health care within the community and primary sector.

About the role...

The Mental Health Nurse (MHN) will work as part of a multidisciplinary mental health team to deliver focused mental health nursing service for individuals with mental health disorders in a community care setting.

You will be working within a recovery based framework supporting GPs and community based psychiatrists to care for their mentally ill clients.

The position offers opportunity to work with complex presentations and has a multicultural client base and a working relationship with headspace supporting young adults and the gender diverse community.

The Right fit......

You will deliver clinical care coordination and treatment services and provide targeted short-term specialised support to address our client's needs and goals as well as facilitating and coordinating access to other health and community support agencies. The role will monitor and regularly review medication administration and management, liaising with family and carers as appropriate.

You will have:

  • Extensive experience working in mental health settings (or similar)
  • Experience managing clients with severe and persistent mental health conditions and complex needs.
  • Highly developed communication (including written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to engage people who are hard to reach and advocate on their behalf.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, clients, carers and stakeholders.
  • Ability to use a desktop computer, with familiarity with the Microsoft Windows environment and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Capacity to learn how to use a new clinical software package for keeping of electronic client records.
  • Current Driver's License.

 Mandatory....

  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association.
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with a current annual practicing certificate.
  • Current credentialing as a Mental Health Nurse through the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses or commitment to work towards.
