About the Role:

An exciting opportunity exists to join Icon Integrated Cancer Centre in Mackay, Queensland.  This position presents a unique opportunity for a pharmacist to expand and develop their clinical and organisational skills, as well as assist in the implementation and maintenance of innovative pharmacy services.

This position is a permanent role working within a multidisciplinary oncology team to ensure the daily provision of safe, efficient and quality cancer services with a patient centered approach.

Key responsibilities:

• Work within a multidisciplinary team with Nurses and Doctors to provide a comprehensive clinical service within the Day Therapy Unit (including medication history taking, patient counselling and educating nursing staff)
• Work in partnership with the pharmacy team to provide dispensing and clinical services from the pharmacy
• Clinically screen oncology and haematology treatment protocols
• Provide detailed patient counselling and supportive care recommendations
• Liaise with our external partners as well as work closely the national pharmacy team to ensure objectives are met
• Overseeing aseptic preparation of manufactured chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted therapy products
• Participation in weekly education sessions relating to oncology medicines and services

Selection Criteria

• A recognised Pharmacy degree with current AHPRA registration
• Current professional indemnity liability insurance
• Hospital experience including experience with aseptic chemotherapy compounding techniques and clinical oncology/haematology issues is preferred
• Proven ability to prioritise workload and forward plan
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to work independently while being able to build collaborative relationships, maintain and strengthen partnerships with all stakeholders
• Proven ability to work and contribute in a team environment and develop good working relationships with colleagues, patients and practitioners
• Demonstrated ability to effectively and independently solve problems
