MUSWELLBROOK OFFICE - ALL AREAS SPEECH PATHOLOGY:

Permanent, full time position (part time also considered if preferred) for a speech pathologist - based in Muswellbrook, with outreach to Scone, Merriwa and surrounding districts.

This position requires the appointee to live in or close to Muswellbrook. Support for this is provided by way of a generous relocation allowance and accommodation allowance. 

Accommodation is available in Muswellbrook on arrival and during the first few months until own housing is sought (upon request). 

SINGLETON OFFICE - ALL AREAS SPEECH PATHOLOGY:

In addition to the above Muswellbrook role, AASP is also offering a permanent, full time position (part time also considered if preferred) for a speech pathologist to be based in Singleton.

Preference would be given to an applicant willing to live in or close to Singleton. However, commuting from the East Maitland or west side of Newcastle would also be considered. 

NEW GRADUATE/GRADE 1/GRADE 2 POSITIONS:

The grading of the position would be offered based on post graduate experience.

Grade 1 applicants would be expected to have at least 6 months post graduate experience.

Grade 2 applicants would be expected to have 18-24 months experience and have a willingness and ability to engage in mentoring New Graduates/Grade 1 staff.

The positions consist of predominantly paediatric caseload s (birth to 18 years) with some adult clients. There is a mixture of clinic based clients plus external visits to preschools, schools, playgroups, post school day programs and aged care facilities.

The position consists of a varied caseload, including:

  • School and preschool based work (speech, language, social skills and literacy focus)
  • Disability clients (NDIS, NGO and self funded clients)
  • Private clients paying via Medicare, Private Health or at own expense
  • Nursing home/aged care clients
  • Focus on use of key word signing in clinical sessions (training provided)

The above positions come with the following:

  • Supervision, mentoring and peer support program - paid, scheduled time for formal supervision and support, provided on a frequent basis
  • Professional development opportunities provided within AASP plus financial support to attend external PD training
  • Opportunities to work independently as well as alongside other clinicians based in joint offices
  • Work as part of a regional team (head office in East Maitland)

The positions are supported by the Grade 5 Manager of Speech Pathology for Hunter.

EXPERIENCE (Can be gained as a speech pathology student)

ESSENTIAL

  • Provision of speech pathology services to children and adults with a range of communication and swallowing disorders
  • Computer literacy including proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software

DESIRABLE

  • Working collaboratively with teachers in schools and/or preschools
  • Communicating with others using key word signing (Auslan vocabulary)
  • Relating to infants, toddlers and preschool aged children
  • Supporting parents with managing their children’s behaviour and development
