Harbour Road Medical in North Mackay is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse / EEN to join our small busy General Practice.

Hours are flexible. The position is very varied, interesting and rewarding. This is a part time position approximately 32 hours.

 Previous General Practice experience would be highly regarded but not essential. You will be supported in this role by and experienced staff.

The Role:

• Perform clinical duties within required level of clinical competency, according to best available evidence. 
• Triage, immunisations and other injections
• Travel medicine
• Wound management,
• Chronic disease management,
• ECG's, Spirometry
• Maintain clinical documentation.
• Data management
• Planning & management of patient care and patient advocacy.  ,
• Conduct preventative/screening procedures; assist with patient education  
• Co-ordinate patient recall/reminder systems,
• Annual Diabetic Reviews, Pharmacy Reviews, Health Assessments, GP management plans and team care arrangement
• Ensure sterilisation and maintenance of clinical equipment.

Essential:

• Appropriate tertiary qualification & annual APRA registration.

• Professional indemnity cover.

• Minimum of 3 year's nursing experience, preferably in a community-based role.

• Demonstrated understanding of the needs of general practice and interest in community-based nursing including patient education and health promotion.

• Knowledge of current immunisation schedules, Diabetes management, asthma management, enhanced primary care items, infection control, CPR and emergency resuscitation techniques, equipment & drugs.
• Neat and tidy appearance

Desirable:

• Competence in the use of Microsoft Office, Outlook,  Best Practice
• Experience in similar role as practice nurse or community-based nursing.

• Additional qualifications such as Diabetes Education Certificate, Asthma/Spirometry qualification/education and commitment to ongoing education relevant to nursing in general practice.
• Training or experience in Medicare item numbers & health funds
• Member of APNA.
