Who We Are
Medibank’s Garrison Health Services (GHS) delivers a national integrated healthcare service to the Australian Defence Force (ADF). The GHS team manages and coordinates over 1100 on-base primary healthcare experts, providing access to seamless quality healthcare to over 80 000 uniformed ADF personnel from point of injury or illness to recovery.
The Opportunity
We have several casual positions for General Practitioners to join our team at our RAAF base in East Sale. This is a fantastic opportunity to get a foot in the door with the ADF and build your skills in Aviation Medicine. As an Aviation Medical Officer you will be required to perform a variety of clinical and administrative tasks including but not limited to:
- All Medical Officer tasks including provision of fitness to fly assessments, aviation medicals and aircrew clinical health management;
- Provision of appropriate medical advice to Base and Unit Commanders including the fitness for employment and deployment of personnel;
- Pre and post deployment health checks.
About You
You are looking for an opportunity to challenge and develop your skills as a Medical Officer and are excited by working in the niche field of Aviation Medicine. See below for experience and mandatory requirements:
- You must be an Australian Citizen and the ability to obtain Baseline Security Clearance
- Hold full and unconditional registration as a GP in Australia with AHPRA.
- A Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, Fellow of the College of Rural and Remote Medicine, Vocational Registration or equivalent suitable experience and training;
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience within a general practice setting, and ideally 2 years within Aviation Medicine;
- Demonstrated involvement in continuous professional development & medical education;
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training/qualification or equivalent;
- Basic military aviation medicine course or equivalent will be highly regarded.
