Senior Medical Director

As Senior Medical Director, you'll play a pivotal role in channelling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients' lives.

Sitting on the Australia/New Zealand Senior Management Team, this is a key leadership role for the business to ensure we deliver on the goal of bringing cutting edge science to reality for clinicians and patients. You will be responsible for providing leadership and expert advice, and will influence on a strategic level with key stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities include:

• Leadership and development of a broad medical function including Therapy Medical Affairs, Patient Safety, Medical Information, Compliance and Capability
• Provide medical and clinical expertise to strengthen AstraZeneca’s scientific leadership
• Drive excellence in medical strategic planning and cross functional execution
• Drive new product introduction and planning for the medical team
• Engage in in-depth medical/scientific product and disease area discussions and presentations at all levels
• Build innovative medical governance that delivers patient outcomes
• Build strategic relationships with Key Opinion Leaders
• Be a lead contributor to Global and Regional Medical Affairs forums and strategies
• Build high performance teams and long-term succession capability

Ideally you will be medically qualified with experience in a similar role within a complex multinational organisation where you have built a culture of scientific curiosity and partnership to drive business success. You will have demonstrated the ability to understand and communicate complex medicine to different audiences, experience in Oncology and new product launches, as well as proven people management and leadership capabilities.

You will be a true innovator and strategist with real drive, a continuous improvement mindset, and a passion for following the science. You will also have proven experience with Medical Governance and MA Code of Conduct.

You will work with our leaders to support the delivery of AstraZeneca’s ambitions, which includes achievement of business objectives and the ongoing development of our people.
