One of our long standing client mental Health facilities in Queensland is seeking an outstanding General Adult Consultant to start in 2018. You will have the opportunity to support the clinical director in operational management, governance, strategy and planning of the adult Psychiatry unit. With future beds and strategic developement planned and approved there will be many changes and opportunities over the coming years to develop new processes and improve existing ones.

About the role

You will provide high quality psychiatry services to consumers of the Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs Service and provide clinical leadership for the Mental Health clinical team. You will hold responsibility for Supervising senior medical officers, Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) Trainees and Resident House Staff. Services in the mental Health department include:

• Acute & community based adult psychiatry
• Alcohol and Other Drugs Services - community based
• Acute Adult and Older Persons Mental Health Inpatient Units
• Child and Adolescent psychiatry - Community based with Inpatients admitted to Paediatric ward
• Electro-convulsive Therapy
• Outreach psychiatry clinics and consultation
• Consultation/liaison psychiatry
• Indigenous mental health services
• Prison Mental Health Services o Community Care Unit
• Psycho-geriatrics - Community based and Inpatients admitted to Acute Older Persons Mental Health Inpatient Unit

Some of what we are looking for?

• Demonstrated competence and skills in psychiatry, able to manage a wide range of general adult psychiatric presentations including across sub-speciality areas in acute and continuing care, in both community and hospital settings practicing contemporary evidence based psychiatry.
• Strong leadership and negotiation skills to enhance working relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary team, utilising a high level of communication skills for strategic and operational planning, problem solving and decision making.
• Ability to establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders to advocate on patients behalf.
• Commitment to and achievement in research and in leading and participating in an education program for clinical staff at both an undergraduate and postgraduate level, demonstrated ability to construct and/or maintain opportunities for research and education.

Key Qualifications /Requirements

• MBBS or equivalent eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
• Registration or eligibility for registration as a Specialist in Psychiatry with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA). This will require Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or support from the RANZCP for registration to permit practice in a specialist position.
• Eligibility for accreditation as a RANZCP-approved supervisor.
• Driver licence (C Class)

Whats on offer?
The total employee value package of up to $425,794 p.a., is comprised of salary between $204,543 - $216,865 p.a., (L25 - L27) or remuneration value up to $389,431 p.a., comprising salary between $171,044 - $198,678 p.a. (L18 - L24); permanent full time.
