Spinal Life Australia is a not-for-profit organisation passionate in our commitment to rebuilding lives, promoting and celebrating independence, and preventing spinal injuries. Our Personal Support & Home Care Services team support people across Queensland with spinal cord injury and other physical disabilities so that they can live the life they choose.

We're currently looking for an experienced Registered Nurse looking to build on their existing skill base and work with our high support clients across the Brisbane area.

A career as our High Support Registered Nurse On-call means:

Our clients are decision makers who plan and organise their own lives and make their own choices. Your role is to provide phone-based and sometimes in-home support to ventilated, high support clients requiring acute care-response on an on-call basis.
Working largely autonomously but with regular check-ins and training from our High Support team, you will work 12 hour shifts on a rostered basis, with a shift retainer plus attractive casual hourly rate or part thereof to:
  • Provide phone consulting regarding emergency ventilation advice, SPC and spinal cord injury specific nursing assessment and advice to clients and Personal Support Workers
  • Assist with emergency management planning for clients
  • Provide emergency nursing and health support to clients in their home when required outside of scheduled nursing visits.
Our successful RNs on-call are:
  • Experienced with Mechanical ventilation / Airway management
  • Responsive, confident and competent in providing advice and direction via the phone and in a client's home
  • Emotionally resilient, with the ability to work largely autonomously yet escalate situations appropriately
  • Reliable workers committed to their rostered shifts with inherent integrity and respect for individual choice and client confidentiality
  • Excited for long-term casual shifts that fit around their current work, postgraduate study, family life and/or registration maintenance requirements that also help grow their career with an industry leader!
Apply now and you'll enjoy all the benefits of working with Spinal Life Australia, including:
  • Relevant training and induction
  • Ongoing training and development - we say it because we actually do it! You'll learn specific skills and competencies related to working with clients with high-level spinal cord injury and we'll make sure you're competent and confident to excel in this specialisation.
  • Internal career progression opportunities
  • Penalty rates for weekends, nights and public holidays that make a real difference in your pay packet
  • Regular team meetings and celebrations of success - you're part of a big team where your contribution is really valued
  • The opportunity to really make a difference - in your team, in your organisation and in your clients' lives.
