About the role

Mater Research is a world class medical research institute focused on discovering ways to prevent and treat conditions affecting babies, children, adolescents and adults, helping them to lead healthy lives, based at South Brisbane. We are currently seeking an outstanding administrator in the capacity of full-time Senior Research Assistant to cover a 12-month period of parental leave, to support the implementation of clinical research projects within the Mothers’ Babies’ and Women’s Health Research team.

Salary- $71,685 - $77,246 p.a.+ generous superannuation + salary sacrificing

What you'll be doing

You will assist our highly dedicated team in the following areas:

  • Liaising with Contract Research Organisations, Review Boards, Ethics Committees and Governance Offices.
  • Drafting Ethics and Governance submissions for new studies and making amendments to existing studies.
  • Study start-up, organising Site Selection Visits and Site Initiation Visits for sponsored clinical trials and managing all aspects of investigator initiated trials.
  • Drafting and editing study documents including patient information and consent forms, source documents, protocols, and database development (Excel, RedCap, etc.)
  • Providing accurate and complete records by entering patient data into established databases as required.
  • Organising and coordinating quality assurance activities in regards to collection, integrity and possible recovery of data.
  • Assisting the team with administrative and computer skills including formatting documents in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Maintaining master files and version control of clinical study site documents, email correspondence, training materials and other study documents.
  • Administering clinical trials according to Good Clinical Practice and institutional standard operating procedures.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have the following:

  • Current Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certificate is essential.
  • Bachelor qualification in health or science related area is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 3 years demonstrated administrative experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team, and to independently establish work priorities, to set realistic goals and to meet deadlines.
  • Advanced computer skills in particular programs such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Access.
  • Sound knowledge of medical and scientific terminology including anatomy, physiology and disease processes.
  • Ability to acquire the knowledge of the required related to the research specialty.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrated ability to interact effectively with staff across multiple functional areas and establish and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
