About the role

Mater Education is seeking an experienced Education Coordinator to join our dynamic team for placement within Mater's fantastic facility on a permanent full time basis.

This position will oversee the Central Staffing Office, Neuroscience and Rehabilitation departments.

Mater Education, in collaboration with Mater Research, provides education and learning and development support to Mater Health. Mater Education is a nationally accredited, independent, hospital-based Registered Training Organisation (RTO) that offers a range of courses targeted to provide outstanding educational solutions to an internal and external clientele. Mater Education focuses on achieving Mater's Exceptional Every Time (EET) Strategy through the use of best practice and simulation-based education support, and strategies that facilitate a professional learning environment where everyone at Mater learns and thrives together. Mater Education contributes to the continual improvement in the safety and quality of patient care and experience through effective integration with health and research.

Salary level: $50.15 - $56.29 (RN3) per hour plus superannuation

What you'll be doing

As the Education Coordinator you will provide education leadership, interprofessional education, collaboration and support specifically but not limited to employees within the Mater’s Central Staffing Office, Neuroscience and Rehabilitation departments. A key requirement of the role is to implement innovative instructional and delivery strategies to enable interprofessional learning (IPL) and a variety of education strategies that promotes staff and service partner satisfaction resulting in the improvement of safe, quality patient care and outcomes.

In addition, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Planning, implementing, facilitating and evaluating the progressive learning and development across the Mater’s Central Staffing Office, Neuroscience and Rehabilitation departments
  • Identifying learning needs via multiple avenues of analysis and review
  • Developing, implementing and evaluating clinical education resources and services designed to meet strategic goals internally and externally
  • Developing and implementing tailored learning plans for individual clinicians
  • Coordinating practice development and education within an interprofessional team environment
  • Incorporating National and International practice recommendations to promote consistent care delivery and practices
  • Promoting, role modelling, implementing and evaluating contemporary, evidence-based best practice
  • Facilitating exceptional clinical care and high levels of professional communication
  • Motivating staff to maintain a continuous learning culture and environment of healthcare improvement
  • Direct line management of the Clinical Facilitator group

About you

To be considered for this position you will have:

  • Registration with Australian Health Professional Registration Authority (AHPRA) as a Nurse and Midwife
  • Postgraduate qualification in teaching (clinical teaching) or education, or equivalent (or working towards)
  • Postgraduate qualification in relevant clinical specialty
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (current)
  • Extensive (minimum 5 years) post graduate clinical experience in relevant area of practice
  • Minimum of 3 years in a clinical education role
  • Experience in a leadership role involving clinical teaching (desirable)
  • A high level knowledge of legislation, professional standards, policies and procedures affecting clinical practice
  • Proven exceptional communication skills with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to create a safe, supportive and positive learning environment
  • Demonstrated ability to consult and collaborate with key stakeholders in multi-disciplinary team environments

You will also be dedicated to the provision of high quality patient care and demonstrate competencies including; critical thinking, analysis and problem solving and effective team leadership.
