An opportunity exists for a permanent part time Clinical Nurse Educator to support our Anaesthetics and Recovery departments. The CNE role is pivotal in planning, implementing, and monitoring the education plan. They will also make a valuable contribution to the hospital quality improvement processes and promote best practice through staff development and education.
The role is permanent part time 3 days per week with scope to be full time, working the additional days as an RN.
The main duties include:
- Development and management of mandatory education and orientation program
- Development and management of mandatory education
- Primary contact and organiser of HSS’s ALS program (Hospital-wide)
- Clinical support and ongoing education of nurses
- Assessments of nurses using clinical competencies
- Maintaining a training register for Anaesthetics and Recovery
- Assisting with development of policies and procedures
- Promoting best practice through staff development and education
- Identify needs for in-service education and liaise with educators and managers to facilitate
Essential qualifications and experience
- ALS Accredited
- Certificate IV Workplace Training & Assessment (or working toward completion)
- Excellent time management skills
- Relevant registration with APHRA
- Relevant Post graduate qualification plus 3 years’ experience working in the clinical specialty/area or a minimum of 4 years post basic registration experience, including 3 years’ experience in the relevant specialist field
- Knowledge of work contracts and methods of assisting and facilitating learning
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required
- Computer literacy in all Microsoft Software applications
