Laverty Pathology is a comprehensive medical laboratory and pathology practice with laboratory and patient pathology collection centre locations throughout NSW and ACT.
We are currently seeking a full time multi skilled Supervising Scientist to work in our Port Macquarie Laboratory. Located on the Mid North Coast of NSW 4 hours North of Sydney, this location is ideal for great work/life balance opportunities.
This role will work closely with the Area Manager, Quality Manager, Senior Department Heads and Scientific and Technical staff in the management of the Port Macquarie Laboratory, which is based within a public hospital setting.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced scientist ready to take that next step into a management position of a large hospital based laboratory.
To be successful in this role you must have the following:
- A relevant qualification from a recognised Australian institution or a qualification recognised by AIMS
- Demonstrated experience and exposure in a clinical multi skilled hospital laboratory
- A sound knowledge of all aspects of pathology operational requirements
- Ability to ensure all ISO, NATA and company compliances are maintained to a high standard
- A sound knowledge of a range of high throughput instrumentation
- A thorough understanding of Internal Quality Control Procedures and Quality Assurance Programs (EQA, QAP)
- An understanding of statistical-based processes in the evaluation of data
- Demonstrated ability to work within a team
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with team members internal and external to the department using both written and verbal communication
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision whilst supervising junior team members
- A high attention to detail
- A highly organised and logical approach to problem solving
- The ability to understand and ensure compliance with WH&S policies and guidelines
