In Summary

The role is an Occupational Therapy position within a busy department at regional health service based in North West Victoria. They provide a wide range of health services including aged, ambulatory acute and sub-acute services to patients of the local and surrounding communities.

Caseloads can actually vary however access to community work, acute ward work, sub-acute and rehabilitation is available so there is a great chance for some real variety in the role.

What does an average day look like?

An average day is likely to start with team meetings and catch ups with the rest of the team to manage the days work. There is a well-established and Multi-Disciplinary team of staff within the allied health department so it’s expected you’d be working with Physiotherapists, OT’s and other health professionals, liaising with them all depending on each specific patient.

What sort of patients will I be working with?

As a public health service the patient base will be very varied. Each patient will of course be different so the hands on work could involve everything from complex neurological cases through to orthopaedic rehabilitation and ICU.

The catchment area for the health service is quite large being one of the only tertiary public health service sin the area. Residents of the geographical area rely on the health service for access to pretty much everything.

Where is it?

The service is located in the North West of Victoria in a busy regional town on the river. A great spot with a lovely country feel.

Those who aren’t local can benefit from local accommodation that is within walking distance of the hospital and is available for a small weekly fee if you are interested in joining the service on a shorter term basis.
